It’s not about Batman or Superman, it’s about a hot new trend that’s showing up on red carpets all over the world! INCASE YOU MISSED THE MEMO : CAPES ARE IN, and I’m going to show you how to style it on that glam night out, or with your ripped blue jeans!
Making a Statement at the 2017 Golden Globes
Easily one of the best dresses stars at the Golden Globes this year, Mandy Moore oozed class and glamour in this floor length Naeem Khan gown. What made this dress stand out above the rest was not only the plunging neckline, but that flowy, chiffon Cape trailing behind her down the red carpet.
Celeb Style Inspo
The Cape is no stranger to the red carpet as we’ve seen for a few seasons, but it has transitioned from being a winter piece to featuring on dresses, jackets and play suits in the summer too! Our favourite stars, Chrissy, Diane, and Jlo show us how it’s done regardless of age…
Trying the Trend
Taking my inspo from Miss Moore herself, I chose this figure hugging, black bodycon dress, taking my ‘LBD'(Little Black Dress) game to the next level!
The deep plunging neckline works because I have a small bust, ordinarily the thigh- high slit could be considered ‘risque’ showing “too much skin”, but the long cape covering my right arm, balances the look out.
Instead of wearing tons of jewellery, I kept it very minimal with studs, a gold Guess watch, and gold heel.Make up for today was a slight smokey eye and hair was out of my face – I wanted the focus to be all about the dress!!
Not the ‘Dress Wearing’Type? Try it with Denims!
Not such a fan of wearing dresses? Fear not, this trend can be just as fabulous and glam on a matching pant-suit as seen on Shay Mitchell, or dressed down with a tank and some denims.
Jlo wears it with a skin tight catsuit, and the ever so stylish, Queen of Black & white Jonelle Monae wears her Cape with a pencil skirt and crop top while Nicole Ritchie keeps it sleek and simple in all white head to toe.
Trying fun different trends is a form of self expression, so play with it – and most importantly have fun with fashion! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog! I hope you liked it – and please feel free to reach out on any of my social media platforms – Twitter Instagram or Facebook
