One of the few remaining monarchies, the Kingdom of eSwatini (Swaziland) is a mere 4 hour drive from Johannesburg, South Africa. Rich in tradition and culture, and seemingly untouched by the Western world, once a year tens of thousands of foreigners arrive for the MTN Bushfire music festival. It’s probably one of my favourite times of the year – ladies and gentlemen, South Africa Fashion Week is upon us! With three days to go until the kick off of #SAFW, I thought I’d share with you my most nervous, exciting memories as a newbie presenter, my “whoops moment” and the showstopping looks I have planned to SLAY this year’s red carpet!
MY FIRST FASHION WEEK : A Nervous,Inexperienced TV Presenter
My first taste of #SAFW was last year when I was freelancing for Spice TV – All Access. We interviewed celebs, designers, models and fashion lovers alike. I cannot begin to describe how nervous I was being a Cape Townian travelling to the ‘big city’of glitz and glam! Plus, I had no clue how the people would dress, and I would be on camera the entire time, the pressure was truly on! I reached out to local designers who styled me for each night and could only afford a make up artist for two of the nights, so off I went, hoping and praying for the best!

I survived! My first taste of SA Fashion week was a success!
FROM PRESENTER TO BLOGGER : SAFW
My return to SAFW saw me wearing a different hat – this time I had no Tv crew with me, by now I could afford a PR Company who got me invited to incredible events like thiS.
I was still living in Cape Town and reached out to Mishah & Zah at INFIN8TI who dressed me in sexy, yet sophisticated dressed. This time I had the freedom to be a bit more low-key as I was going as a ‘fashion blogger’, not a presenter.
DAY 1 – Dress by Infin8ti – My ‘Whoops’ Moment
I bet you’re wondering what a ‘whoops moment’ is – well, apparently the dress code was ‘No Colour’ – I never got that memo…. Instead I arrived in a bright red bodycon – I stood out like a sore thumb (cringe). Called my mum in a panic when I realised I was the dumbo that never got the memo – she told me to just own it, I was already there so I may as well act as if it was intentional-so that’s exactly what I did! LOL!

WHERE TO NEXT?
This year I will have the honour as an MTV Base Africa Tv Presenter to be shooting a Fashion Week Special at #SAFW. I have an amazing crew coming with me, and this year I’ll be able to afford a real ‘GLAM TEAM’. I don’t want to spoil the surprise of exactly what I shall be wearing – but I will give you a clue;
The Local designer I’m working with this year (@QuiteriaLuk) is responsible for creating my most memorable fashion moments of 2017! All I can say is Y’ALL AINT READY!
Keep up with me on 24 and 25 October 2017 as I take on #SAFW with a front row seat to the hottest shows, fresh new designers and chat to local taste makers! Follow the fun on any of my social media platforms – INSTAGRAM : TWITTER : FACEBOOK
