So,What exactly is “Glamping”?
Being a true fashion girl from the city, camping was never-ever my thing! But one should never close their mind to new experiences – so I decided to give #GLAMPING a go!
Here are my tips on how to Glamp in style and slay on Instagram while doing so!
“What’s that?” you may ask, well Glamping is a glamourous style of camping and with the comforts and luxuries not usually associated with “traditional” camping.
TRANSLATION: It’s perfect for the camping rookies and city girls that have no clue – like me 🙂
In order to successfully pull off Glamping like a pro, and be the inspo (or envy) of all your social media followers, I suggest you follow 3 easy steps : Plan; Pack; Pose & Post.
PLAN MEALS THAT ARE QUICK AND EASY TO COOK – NO MUSS, NO FUSS!
Plan each meal that you will have throughout your trip & the utensils you will need (it’s so easy to forget a tin opener, matches, firelighters) . A great tip is to do one big grocery shop at a store you know has easy to make, pre-cooked meals – like Woolworths SA that stock microwave meals so all you have to do is pop the pre-cooked oxtail or stew into a cast iron potjie pot – and voila! Potjiekos ready in less that 15 mins!
Fun meals to have around the fire are American inspired smores – melted marshmallows sandwiched between two biscuits with Nutella – Yes Please! While you are at it, why not try a gourmet style picnic in one of the park’s braai spots – cheese boards, cured meats, fruit and delicious bread – oh and don’t forget a good bottle of wine!
A few of my favourite activities at Marakele National Park : The Game Drive, Nature Walk, Picnic, Drive to the Lenong Viewing point to watch the sun set!
PACK FASHION FORWARD & FUNCTIONAL LOOKS FOR THE ‘GRAM
Packing for your trip is essential – you want clothes that are functional and FASHIONABLE! I put together looks that complimented each other – similar colour palettes made for pretty pictures. Because we recently had good rains, I knew the bush would be lush and green – so my looks complimented the environment. If you get stuck, neutral colours are always a good idea (black, white, grey and tan).
*My make up tip – You are in the bush my darling – keep your make up natural and glowing. We want to see the beautiful YOU*
3. POSE & POST
Outfit on fleek – now pick the perfect location to pose
You look amazing with your pre-planned looks, now choose a great location to pose – because a beautiful location adds interest to your image. See Examples below:
*GLAMPING WORD OF ADVICE – Always listen to your game ranger about park rules especially when doing bush walks and game drives! It’s truly for your safety.*
South Africa is a beautiful country, and each of its national parks are special in their own way. I so encourage you to explore this country and share your experiences with the world! View – SANPARKS : Marakele National Park Website
